This is a key Lead Architect role within a high-growth, product-led scale-up building modern, cloud-native platforms used by customers across Australia, New Zealand, and international markets.
You’ll join at a meaningful stage of growth, where the product is live, customers are active, and the focus has shifted to scale, reliability, and architectural maturity. You will own architectural direction end-to-end, helping evolve the platform while keeping delivery fast, pragmatic, and customer-centric.
This role suits an architect who enjoys working close to the code and the product, not just producing diagrams. You’ll influence real outcomes, make decisions that stick, and help set the technical foundations for the next phase of growth.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Owning architecture across cloud-native, distributed systems in a fast-moving scale-up environment
- Designing and evolving event-driven, serverless architectures built for scale and resilience
- Leading architectural decisions across new initiatives and platform modernisation work
- Partnering closely with Engineering, Product, and Platform teams to align architecture with business goals
- Designing mobile-first and API-first systems that support customer-facing applications
- Ensuring security, privacy, and compliance are embedded into platform design from day one
- Establishing architectural standards, patterns, and governance without slowing teams down
- Acting as a technical leader and mentor for senior engineers and tech leads
What You’ll Bring
- 5+ years’ experience in Solution Architecture and/or Enterprise Architecture, ideally within SaaS or scale-up environments
- Strong AWS architecture experience, including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, OpenSearch, and serverless patterns
- Hands-on experience designing systems using modern TypeScript / Node.js and React
- Proven experience designing or modernising platforms to support growth, performance, and reliability
- Solid knowledge of security, privacy, and compliance requirements in production environments
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform
- A DevOps-first mindset with exposure to CI/CD, automation, and cloud-native operational practices
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence technical direction across teams
